Rivers in North Bihar are in spate due to incessant rains in Nepal. The water level of the Bagmati river in Samastipur district is continuously increasing. In Kalaunjar Panchayat of Chakmehsi police station area, some houses have come under the grip of river erosion. While 3 houses have been submerged in water and at least 10 houses are reported to be damaged.

Let us tell you that almost every year in this area, due to the erosion of the Bagmati river, people’s homes and fertile lands get absorbed in the river. More or less the situation remains the same every year, but no concrete measures have been taken so far. The place where the erosion has started, the construction work of the bundal has not been done at the administrative level. Because of this people are facing problems.

According to the information received, the water level of the Bagmati river is flowing above the danger mark. On Wednesday, the water of the river came on the unpaved road near Piprahi on the Sheohar-Motihari road. Due to this the vehicular movement on this road was disrupted. The Bagmati river is flowing two cm above the danger mark in Sheohar. Its water level is increasing continuously.
