M. Ta. Special Representative, Mumbai: The leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi, overcoming the pressure of BJP in the Rajya Sabha elections, have started vigorous preparations for the upcoming Legislative Council elections. While the Shiv Sena called a meeting of its MLAs on Friday to decide on the poll strategy, leaders of the NCP and Congress, on the other hand, have started approaching independent candidates exclusively to garner the support of BJP independents. However, it shows that voices of displeasure are rising from the Shiv Sena side.

In the backdrop of the upcoming Legislative Council elections, vigorous developments are taking place in the state. After the defeat in the Rajya Sabha, the Mahavikas Aghadi is taking a cautious approach and in any case, the leaders of the alliance are running to win over the independents. Both the NCP and the Congress in front started approaching independent candidates for their favor. However, in this he pulled up smaller parties supporting the Shiv Sena; Shiv Sena has also started contacting independent candidates. Congress leaders had a meeting with NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday. The meeting was held at Ajit Pawar’s Devgiri residence and was kept confidential. Ashok Chavan and Balasaheb Thorat participated in the meeting. After the meeting, Chavan and Thorat left and boarded the same vehicle.

Shiv Sena is understood to be upset with all these backgrounds. Shiv Sena leaders say that in the last Rajya Sabha elections, the Congress and the NCP did not take enough care to make the Shiv Sena candidate win. This now includes smaller parties from the Legislative Council to the NCP and Congress to the Shiv Sena; Simultaneously, information about his contact with an independent reached the Shiv Sena leaders. He gave this information directly to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He is understood to have expressed displeasure over this. It is not proper for the front leaders to talk to the independent leaders who support us in this way. A senior Shiv Sena leader said, “We have informed our leadership and they will be in touch with the alliance leaders.”
